Boulder, CO, November 8, 2011 – Rogue Wave Software, the largest independent provider of cross-platform software development tools and embedded components for the next generation of HPC/High Performance Computing applications, today announced the release of IMSL C Numerical Library version 8.0. In addition to expanding the library of powerful math and statistics algorithms, this release will allow users with supported hardware to simply link the IMSL C Library with NVIDIA’s CUDA BLAS to gain the significant performance improvement available by offloading processing to the GPU.
“Our customers use our libraries to build sophisticated analytic capabilities into their applications. These applications require the high performance offered by parallel architecture to meet the demands of exponentially growing data sets. Not only do the IMSL Libraries embody decades of numerical and statistical algorithm development, but they also shield developers from the need to be experts in parallel computation. With this release, developers can simply link their applications to this version of our libraries to automatically offload the CPU by performing linear algebra on the NVIDIA GPUs,” said Sean FitzGerald, Sr. Vice President of Engineering/CTO, Rogue Wave Software. “This is another step in Rogue Wave’s mission to make it easier to develop parallel, data-intensive applications.”
In addition, there are many new and updated algorithms in this version of the IMSL C Library including:
- New sparse Linear and Quadratic Programming algorithms
- New time series modeling algorithms including Regression ARIMA, Holt-Winters exponential smoothing and Auto-PARM for structural break identification
- New statistical analysis routines including Maximum Likelihood Estimates, False Discovery Rate and tests for fit including the Anderson-Darling and Cramer-von Mises tests
- Additional linear algebra functions SuperLU (real and complex) and a non-negative least squares implementation
- Additional functions parallelized for multi-core systems using OpenMP
We are very excited to bring version 8.0 of the IMSL C Library to market,” said Margaret Journey, IMSL Product Manager, Rogue Wave Software. “The inclusion of CUDA support, performance improvements and new analytic capabilities should benefit both our extensive user community and developers looking to embed advanced analytic capabilities in their applications.”
