Developed by University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine in 1967 as the first software of its kind available, RightDose™ was created to optimize drug therapy for populations and especially for individual patients. Continuing to be an industry-leading solution today, RightDose is a clinical tool designed for use by physicians and pharmacists to calculate individualized drug regimens to achieve desired serum drug concentrations for patients with maximum precision and accuracy. Partnering with leaders in mathematical algorithms and capabilities, the founders developed the application as clinicians aiming to improve the care of patients requiring intensive therapy that could be potentially toxic. By bringing together state-of-the-art mathematics and engineering principles to the drug delivery field, the software leverages complex algorithms and mathematical models, similar to those used in flight control of commercial aircraft and tracking down moving enemy targets, to ensure that individual patients and diverse population groups receive the most precisely designed dosages, especially if parameters within the body continually change.
