Speaking sessions:

  • Presenter: Justin Reock
  • Title: Building the Holodeck, one open source brick at a time
Abstract: PHP is open source. But it’s only one part of the larger puzzle. Open source powers everything from droids to Mars landers. Justin Reock, who lives and breathes OSS, shares his vision on what open source truly is, what it can be, and how we all participate in this larger community. Mixing Ulysses, Stallman, and Heinlein with his own views, Justin examines the secret life of free software to answer: How do we power the cool things we want, build faster, better, and maintain free software? The Holodeck awaits.

  • Presenter: Jan Burkl
  • Title: Particulum Mobile: Zend Expressive Microservices in Docker Swarm
Abstract: Why microservices? They are easy to maintain, easy to pair and scalable. Theoretically.
The small sample application "Particulum Mobile" gives us an overview of the performance, flexibility and simplicity of Zend Expressive as the basis for microservices. Let's talk about a simple way to deploy the Zend Expressive part - and an HTML / JS frontend - to a Docker Swarm in this session, and we'll see how the system scales!
