The Intel HPC Developer Conference is the premier technical training event to meet and hear from Intel architecture experts and connect with HPC industry leaders. Join in to learn what's next in HPC, attend technical sessions, hands-on tutorials, and poster chats that cover parallel programming, high productivity languages, artificial intelligence, systems, enterprise, visualization development and much more.

Come attend our speaking session at 3:15 p.m. presented by Jasmit Singh, senior software engineer for TotalView for HPC:

Mixed language debugging (Python and C/C++ with TotalView)

Python has been growing in use at HPC sites around the world. These users rely on algorithms written in C/C++ and use Python to steer their simulations. Debugging applications that mix Python with compiled languages has been particularly difficult; while debuggers exist for the traditionally-compiled components, they debug the Python component at the interpreter level, leaving users with a view of the Python interpreter, rather than their Python script.

To solve this problem, Rogue Wave Software modified the TotalView for HPC debugger to support mixed-language debugging with Python and C/C++. This talk discusses the motivation, approach, outcome and future development as part of this effort.
