LTX-Credence Chooses TotalView to Aid Development of Semiconductor Device Test Programs

Natick, MA, March 4, 2010 - TotalView Technologies, a provider of interactive analysis and debugging tools for serial and parallel codes, today announced a distribution arrangement with LTX-Credence in which LTX-Credence will ship the TotalView® debugger engine with their next-generation automated test equipment system software and off-line software development environment. Located in Milpitas, California, LTX-Credence is a provider of innovative semiconductor ATE solutions.

“After thorough evaluation of Linux debugger engines in the market place, we chose TotalView as the best-in-class debug engine,” said Tim Hallock, Vice President of Software at LTX-Credence. “The key differentiating attributes included robustness, multi-threaded support, and enhanced debug features. We believe the TotalView debug engine will provide our customers with an efficient debug environment that will scale with additional processing cores, resulting in faster time to market.”

TotalView is a comprehensive source code analysis and memory error detection tool that dramatically enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging parallel, data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded or network-distributed applications. Built to handle the complexities of the world’s most demanding applications, TotalView offers a number of advanced features that help speed development and eliminate bugs quickly, and is capable of scaling from one to thousands of processes or threads with applications distributed over multiple machines or processors.

This arrangement takes advantage of TotalView's command line interface (CLI) which can be used either interactively or as an interface or extension point to the debugger engine. The TotalView CLI, based on the interpreted TCL language, is fully programmable. The LTX-Credence IDE uses the CLI as the exclusive point of control for TotalView. This integration enables software developers working on test protocols to debug their automated test routines seamlessly and transparently without leaving the IDE environment.

“We are happy that LTX-Credence selected TotalView as the debugger engine to be included in their software development kit,” said Brian Pierce, CEO of Rogue Wave Software. “We’ve been working with them for more than four years, and their selection represents the result of a rich and ongoing relationship.”
